Coming soon….

Let’s do a quick recap to get everyone up to speed!

Welcome, one and all, to Turtle Paradise Scanlations! I’m your negligent fearless leader, Rebmastu. We’ve been in business for longer than I’d care to admit, and on hiatus for roughly a quarter of the time. Oops. Let’s not discuss the specifics of such, but suffice it to say none of us are dead (that I know of), but real life has a way of derailing the things we love to do, etc, etc.

The nature of scanlation has changed quite a lot in the time since we went on hiatus nearly two years ago. These days, if there’s a series in Japan with a decent amount of traction it’s more likely than NOT for a series not to be available in English. My, how the times have changed! With that said, we intend to shift our focus to series that are less likely to see an official English release: One-shots, out-of-print series, and things of that nature.

Here are the series that we, of course, plan to continue!
Slayers: Super Explosive Demon Stories (LIKE THERE WAS ANY OTHER QUESTION LOL), Tsukuroiya, Mebius Gear, etc. We have a handful of other series that we hope to announce sooner rather than later as well!

Junketsu Kareshi/He’s my Only Boyfriend (lol) by Aya Shouoto is being published with an absolutely SPLENDID translation in English Markets by Yen Press! You can purchase it easily at Amazon or any other retailer near you. They’re doing a much better job than we ever did, I assure you. =3

And that will do for our updates! A disclaimer, first: We’re all working adults. We’ll continue doing this out of love, but our release rate will likely be much slower than it used to be, alas (any Slayers fans remember a new chapter of Aqua Lord almost every day? lollll), but we’re still, as always, turtling on.

We’ll see you soon!

The Turtles

PS: I will never NOT be verbose. Lol

Things are looking weird around here…

Recent WordPress updates caused the index page to go completely insane. Being that I have zero experience with actually customizing WordPress, I’ve been spending my Saturday fumbling around, trying to rebuild the site from scratch to protect it from this in the future. I’m not terribly happy with the changes rolling out with 3.7, so all I can say to my fellow devs is – be careful when you upgrade! Even if the worst had happened, we still have backups, but dealing with a failure like this is always scary.

Aside from looking… well, horrible, there is a new addition to the header image. Rebmastu makes it a point to complain regularly about the difficult navigation on the site, and while no one has actually mentioned it to me, I’m sure some people have gotten confused by it in the past. There are now links in the header area to go to the various sections of the side, and the links to both the tumblr and twitter are in the sidebar.

Please let me know of any suggestions to make the site a little better right now. I’m infinitely frustrated with, well, everything, and the absolute last thing I want to do is roll out a site that is simply “good enough.” Well, that’s obviously what’s happened now, but hopefully there is some groundwork in place to make things better in the future.

Let this serve as a reminder: When you press that “update” button, never think to yourself, “this never goes wrong, but I definitely don’t want things going bad tonight!”

Status Update!

Greetings, friends and fellow readers! We’re not dead! (Yet, but we’re working on it. Give it time.)

Alas, the cause for our delay is none other than the seasonal menace of… finals. (And school in general, but doesn’t the former sound so much more imposing?) Long-time followers of the Turtle Brigade will recall that more often than not we usually go on an unofficial hiatus for the month of November for that very reason, which is why, regrettably, I haven’t had any time to translate, which, uh, ‘translates’ into delayed releases for the group. I feel pretty bad about it, but eh, what can you do? Though to the left, you’ll see what I’m trying desperately to work on right now. Shut up, Tom, I love my Blazing Joe and none of your shoujo-hating drivel will convince me otherwise!

That said, we hope to resume activity by mid-December just in time for THE TWELVE DAYS OF DOUJINSHI, 2012! Woo-hoo! (So if you’ve got some doujinshi lying around that you think we might be interested in, drop by the forum and share! We’ve got a lot planned for this year, but don’t think for a second we’ll turn down a few more quality pieces.)

That said, see you in a week or two!
Much love,
The Turtles

P.S.: For those interested in following my translation/commission blog, stop by Ruby Eye Translations, formerly known as Turtle Translations. It’s not quite as active as I’d like, but there should be something new posted soon!

Another release!? By George, I think you’ve got it! We’ve been ridiculously productive lately and a lot of our series are coming to a end very, very soon, so keep those peepers peeled, ’cause we’re about to go indulgent on your reader arses.

Oh! Speaking of which, we’ve got a few new announcements! Firstly, Melfra just finished revamping the online reader! Not only is the layout badass as all get-out, but for those of you who shied away because the images were TOO DAMN BIG, she also added an option to resize the pages — and it still looks better than anything else you’ll find on any other reader. (Mangafox, I’m looking at you and your shitty resize algorithms.) Give ‘er a whirl and tell us what you think! (Coming soon: Oneshots and doujinshi!)

Second, and this is more of a reminder than anything, you can now find us on Tumblr!

And now that we’ve got that out of the way, IT’S NEW RELEASE TIME.

Bet you thought I was going to use Kain and or Milly again. Fair assumption. I ship it with the fury of fifteen dying suns.
Lost Universe, LOST 19: [THE LAST]
Read Online

IN THIS CHAPTER OF LOST UNIVERSE! Text and imperfections were BLASTED with impudence by c0de_da1sy! Letters were affixed in place with a SPACE STAPLER by Zippy! And at the control panel was Melfra, monitoring our progress and making sure we didn’t take the whole damn ship down with us. (Meanwhile, I stood at the helm muttering about fate and destiny just moments before we were blasted into oblivion by the good ship QUALITY, so I guess none of it really mattered anyway.)

ENJOY YOUR READ, ME HARTIES This post is now a seafaring joke. SERIES ENDS NEXT CHAPTER! (Then again, there’s a whole ‘nuther EX volume after this, so take that as you will, lawl)

Again, we’re still looking for staff! Sudden change of heart: ALL POSITIONS ARE NOW OPEN! We’ve got spots for typesetters, QCs, and editors! What are the benefits to joining staff? I’M GLAD YOU ASKED. Get first crack at claiming projects! YOU decide what’s released next! YOU decide what to work on! And you get to read new chapters before anybody else, plus access to RIDICULOUS staff events! (Like meetups, cookie exchanges, and generally really weird, stupid, and/or awesome shit.) We’re in OMEGA need of editors, because we legit have NO ONE. Halp. Halp us plz.

I doofed!

Apologies if some of you happened to catch the post that said Junketsu is up before I managed to mark it as a draft– you still have to wait until tomorrow to read the new chapter. =P

(Just prepping up for a release day, y’all. Move along, folks. nothing to see here.)
