The bird goes free

When I first started working on Birdcage, I did it because it was a challenge to translate and Takarai Rihito’s art was retro and eye-catching; but what I got out of the series was was a cast of some of the most memorable characters I’ve ever met. While I’m sure I didn’t do Kabei Yukako’s original script justice, here’s hoping you enjoyed it all the same. At last, The Sleepy Residents of Birdcage Manor can get some rest.

This chapter was brought to you by the editing talents of c0de_da1sy, typeset and translated by yours truly, with Melfra and Clov3r at the helm making sure none of us borked it up.

Enjoy the series finale! And this being the last chapter, THE GLOVES ARE OFF! Spill your guts in the comments! No spoiler or opinion (or criticism!) is off-limits!

Everything’s always late!

Remember how we said the next chapter of Birdcage would be out earlier last week? Well… Turns out I lied! We’re always late at Turtle Paradise Scanlations! But hey, I’d say a week between chapters isn’t too bad as far as release rates are concerned. Hell, as far as anything we do is concerned!

This chapter has been brought to you by the extraordinary editor, sakana-san! Typeset by the terrific Zippy! And QC’d by the… querulous Melfra and Clov3r. (I MEAN THAT IN A GOOD WAY GUYS)

Funny story. I was browsing the forums on a certain manga reader which I am less than fond of (you can likely guess the one), when I noticed a disturbing amount of comments saying they were dropping the series because they didn’t want to see the ending they were speculating about. On the one hand, boy, do I respect the kinds of imaginations that can craft their own ending to a story based on their personal hypotheses (no sarcasm), but on the other… Well, what about Birdcage has ever been predictable? That said, this is the penultimate chapter, and it’s gone in directions that I never dared to hope were possible… Before shooting them down just as fast. Well, darn. Anyway, look forward to the final chapter!

Slow and steady

We continue rolling towards the conclusion of The Sleepy Residents of Birdcage Manor!

This chapter has been brought to you by (CAN I GEDDIT A DRUMROLL PLEASE) Melfra working the Editor AND QC angle, Zippy typesetting, Clov3r QCing as well, and with yours truly at the translator’s desk.

Also! For those interested, we’ve resumed work on Junketsu Kareshi thanks to our brand-spankin’ new editor Egotist, so expect us to be doing something or other with that pretty soon here. HURRAY, NOW I FEEL SAFE ENOUGH TO RE-OPEN SERIES COMMENTING!

Aaaand that’s about it. A short post for a short chapter! (I’M SORRY) We’ll roll the next chapter out the door a little bit later this week — hey, just because on chapter’s a little on the short side doesn’t mean it should have the focus stolen by another one! And that is why… I just can’t bring myself to say anything at all of substance at the moment, lawl.

The Sleepy Residents of Birdcage Manor just need a nap

Editor: Sakana-san; Typesetter: ZippyZippy; QC’d by: Melfra and Clov3r; Translator: Rebmastu

Hah! How do you like THAT for succinct, Melly!? Juuust kidding wink wink nudge nudge yaknow what I mean? Seriously though, I know for every person who leaves an awesome comment saying they enjoy the posts (and I love you guuuuys), there have to be fifty others thinking, “JUST SHUT UP AND GIVE US THE CHAPTER ALREADY!” So there you go. I am a slave to the ratio, weeping. Weeping.

You know what? Maybe brevity can be nice every once in a while. I think I’ll close ‘er out tonight with the usual begging and pleading: We need editors, first off. Ours are gone. Kaput. Totally vanished. I know not where; perhaps to more active pastures? (lolol) Especially for Barajou and Junketsu Kareshi, the latter of which seems to have gotten a second, clearly terrifying wind on the site, and a smattering of other new projects that you’d have to be staff to be privy to, HOHOHO.

We’ve gotten a lot of typesetter applicants lately which is great! Thanks, guys! Unfortunately, we’re looking for people to typeset series like Mebius, but y’all are minors and I don’t want to go to jail. So there’s that. Haaa.

That is all! Happy reading.

Moving the way turtles do

FIRST THINGS FIRST: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRUIC!

Our favorite frenchie. ♥

Ahem. WELCOME TO NEW RELEASE DAY. In typical Turtle Fashion (TM), we’re bringing you… the same damn series we released two weeks ago? Well, ha-ha. Ain’t that grand. GOOD THING THEY’RE MY FAVORITES. (Disclaimer: EVERY TURTLE PROJECT IS MY FAVORITE.) Also ditching the “24 hours before download is available” thing ’cause it didn’t work out anyway. SOBBING GET MY STUFF OFF YOUR READERS GUYS, YOU’RE DEFEATING THE PURPOSE OF SCANLATIONS. ALSO. Stick around after the release announcements to see why the hell it’s still taking us so long to release stuff, and what you might be able to do to help.

This chapter is why I hate Canal with everything I have. I don’t care how they try to explain it all away later on. I see this figure, and all the only expression I see on her face is “Teehee, I AM SATAN.”

THIS BALL OF EVERYTHING THAT GIVES ME RAGE was typeset, as always, by the lovely ZippyZippy, edited by c0de_da1sy, and QC’d by Melfra. NEXT!

You know, I’m surprised there wasn’t any discussion about how the way Kizuna acted last chapter. It wasn’t necessarily out-of-character, but it kind of ticked me off all the same. OH WELL SHE’S BACK TO HER MOE-MOE ANTICS THIS TIME AROUND. And then… Well. Asai’s a dick, okay. Let’s leave it at that.

Edited by c0de_da1sy, typeset by Zippy, and QC’d by Melfra and Clov3r. YES THAT WAS THE BEST I COULD COME UP WITH, SORRY GUYS. OTL Hey, I’m burninated out.

NOW AS PROMISED, A STATUS REPORT.
